Requirements

Enrollment is on a first come, first served basis. The student/teacher ratio shall not exceed 9:1.

Massage Therapy Education Center evaluates each applicant without discrimination regarding age, sex, race, nationality, religion, creed, disability, or marital status. To be considered for admission, the student must:

  • be at least 17 years of age or older prior to beginning the course (must be 18 to apply for licensure with the state.)
  • be physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially capable of completing the course.
  • furnish a current state or federal issued photo ID.
  • submit a completed application, along with a non-refundable application fee of $50.00. The application will not be considered until the application fee has been paid.

How to Apply and Enroll

Please apply as early as possible. Early application helps you plan your time so that you will have the best chance for success and enjoyment of your studies.  You may submit your application by mail or in person along with a $50.00 non-refundable Application Fee. For each prospective student, we will provide an enrollment consultation, which will include a school tour, time for individual questions and discussion with the admissions staff, and completion of enrollment if applicant is accepted. Application does not guarantee acceptance.

To apply and enroll please follow these steps:

  1. Submit your application by mail or in person along with a $50.00 non-refundable Application Fee.
  2. Provide a clear copy of a current photo ID such as a driver’s license or state ID card.
  3. Schedule an enrollment consultation with our admissions staff.
  4. Be accepted into the program.
  5. Pay a tuition deposit (minimum $512.00)
  6. Complete payment in full or a payment plan
  7. Complete all necessary paperwork including Enrollment Agreement.

Ineligibility

A student may be ineligible for Licensing as a massage therapist by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation if he/she has been convicted of, entered a plea of nolo contendere or guilty to, or received deferred adjudication for crimes or offenses involving prostitution or sexual offenses; or convicted of a violation of the Massage Therapy Act within the past five years. Anyone employed at a sexually oriented business will not be accepted for enrollment at Massage Therapy Education Center.

Late Enrollment

Space permitting, enrollment will be allowed if no more than 10% of the program has been completed. All hours missed due to late enrollment must be made up. A written time allotment will be arranged for the make-up of missing hours at the time of enrollment. If hours are not made up according to that agreement, they will be considered absences and the $25.00 per hour fee for make-up hours will be applied to any hours not completed. Make up work may not be authorized for the purpose of removing an absence under this section.

Previous Education and Training

If a student wishes to receive credit for previous training they have completed, they must submit an official transcript to the Texas Department of Health for evaluation. Upon written confirmation from the State of approval for course work, the written confirmation will be placed in the student’s file. If course work is approved, this may result in the program length being shortened and the cost being reduced. All course work to be used for credit must be submitted to the school at least two weeks in advance of the proposed starting date of the program.
